Mussoorie, the queen of the hills, is one of the most popular and fascinating hill resort of northern India. Its green hills and varied fauna and flora make it a colourful and picturesque hill station, commanding a wonderful view of extensive Himalayan snow ranges to the North-East, and Panoramic view of the Doon valley to the south Mussoorie is also frequented by Honeymooners and is one of the most popular Honeymoon destinations in North India.
The place came to be known as Mussoorie due to unlimited growth of a bush locally known as Mussoorie. Metalled road between Dehradun and Mussoorie was constructed in 1926-31. In 1901 total population of Mussoorie was 4471, which included 78 per cent Britishers. Later in 1951 refugees from Pakistan also settled here. The Indian Academy of Administration was established at Mussoorie in 1958-60. The aerial ropeways was installed in 1970.
Depart from Delhi at 06:00 HRS. ( En route breakfast on extra cost). On arrival to Mussoorie check into hotel. Lunch at hotel. Post lunch free at leisure for own activities or walk around on famous Mall road. Dinner at hotel. Overnight Mussoorie.
After breakfast depart for sightseeing of Lal Tibba: Literally meaning “top of the hill”, this is the highest point in Mussoorie. It offers marvelous views of the Himalayan ranges. The peaks of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Bandar Poonch, Sri Kantha and Nanda Devi can be seen from here on clear days. Later return to hotel. Evening free at leisure or explore this hill – town & Mall road. The Mall: Mussoorie’s lifeblood, the Mall stretches from Cloud’s End in the west to Rockville (the “Haunted House”) in the east. Officially though, the Mall starts at Gandhi Chowk and ends at the Clock Tower, where Landour Bazaar begins. Close to Library Bazaar is the Happy Valleywhich is home to the municipal gardens, the Tibetan School and Home and the National Academy of Administration. After breakfast check out from hotel & visit Kempty Falls: A must see spot, Kempty Falls 15 km away is just an hour’s drive away on the Mussoorie-Yamunotri route. It was once a picturesque spot, but now is ridden with evidence of tourist visits – plastic bags, empty bottles and other litters. It is particularly busy in May and June and we recommend you find a quiet spot on the Yamuna riverbank.
Gun Hill:
Accessible from the Mall by ropeway, Gun Hill derives its name from the guns that were kept atop the hill earlier and fired at mid-day to indicate the time. Gun Hill also provides scenic views of the Himalayan peaks and a bird’s eye view of Mussoorie.. Later depart for Delhi.
